Job Description

At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire, our Assistant Teachers are key to creating a safe, engaging, and educational daycare and child care environment in our early learning centers. You’ll support early childhood education by helping implement lesson plans and working alongside Lead Teachers to guide activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

What You'll Do:

  • Full-Time, Weekdays Only: Our programs at the Empower Campus and 57th Street Learning Centers are open Monday to Friday between 5:45am and 6:30pm. Staff enjoy consistent schedules, and our programs are closed nights and weekends.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers: Assist with lesson plans and classroom activities that support learning and development. Whether you're working with infants, toddlers, or Pre-K children, you'll play a key role in creating a nurturing, engaging childcare environment tailored to each stage of early childhood.
  • Assist With Care: Help with diapering, potty training, rest periods, and nap schedules; help prepare and serve balanced meals and snacks.
  • Ensure Safety and Communication: Monitor children’s play, sanitizing toys, maintain records of activities, meals, and medications, and provide daily updates to parents and guardians.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive Pay: Starting at $15/hour, with annual merit-based & cost of living raises to reward performance and growth. Full-time employees also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, paid time off from day one, employer-matched 401(k), discounted childcare, and local service discounts.
  • Supportive Team Environment: Enjoy a supportive, team-oriented environment where your contributions are valued.
  • Professional Development: Gain hands-on experience in early childhood development, with access to training and professional development opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience & Education: Previous experience or education in early childhood development preferred but not required. CPR certification is required; however, we provide this training in-house if you are not currently certified.
  • Communication, Teamwork & Reliability: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and solve problems efficiently.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, and perform tasks that require frequent standing, kneeling, and walking. Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures.
  • Screening Process: Job offers are contingent upon a post-offer screening, which includes, but is not limited to, background checks, child abuse and neglect screening, and drug test.
