General Job Description:

This position will be responsible for developing robotic welding programs and tooling for welded parts and be responsible for running the robotic welding cell during production activities for all market areas that R-V Industries serves.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Programming Responsibilities:

• Develop robotic programs for new parts and optimize robotic programs for all existing parts.
• Utilize offline programming software to program the robot and to limit the down time of the robotics cell when required.
• Observe opportunities for better organization • Assist in the design and development of robotic weld fixtures • Maintain documentation of robotic programming and improvements
• Work with welding engineers to develop RVIs automation efforts
• Troubleshoot equipment and maximize machine efficiency.
• Provide operator training within the robotic welding cells.
• Be the owner of the implementation of new programs and tooling.
• Anticipate changes in the schedule due to logistical challenges
• Look for continuous improvement opportunities for savings in time, material, and effort

Operator Responsibilities:

• Work with Engineering department, and other team members as needed to develop sequencing of parts.
• Load and unload parts into welding fixtures ensuring parts are aligned correctly and part quality is acceptable.
• Responsible to integrate the required part changes and cycle times into their daily responsibilities
• May be required to clean parts and perform final finishing operation on part prior to the component moving to the next work cell
• Ensure all portions of fixtures, robot, and welding power source are functioning properly and perform periodical preventative maintenance.
• Able to perform basic program call-ups.
• Perform part checks to the drawings to ensure quality requirements are met
• Communicate with supervisor to ensure schedule adherence
• Must maintain the work area in a clean orderly fashion and follow 5S standardization where reasonable

Skills/Qualifications:

• Willing to train the right candidate for the above responsibilities.
• Candidate must have the following characteristics and skills.
• 2 to 3 years code welding experience
• Critical thinking skills
• Ability to read and interpret drawings
• Mechanical aptitude
• Computer proficiency
• Proficient in shop mathematics.

Educational/Physical Requirements:

• 2-year technical school degree is required
• Knowledge of welding principals and methods including FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW
• Welding with multiple processes in multiple positions as required
• Must be able to complete and pass a physical assessment
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation
• Every day repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement, involving gripping and wrist torquing
• Every day standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping
• Everyday lifting 25 to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to welding fumes, moving machinery, dust, dirt, grease, chemicals, or other disagreeable elements
• Must have ability to hear emergency communications and alarms
• Exposure to welding fumes, grinding dust, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and high noise environments
