About This Position
Description:
The Buyer is responsible for maintaining all materials for Growing, Packaging, and the Facility with a focus on maintaining supply, quality, and cost reduction. This position reports directly to the VP Supply Chain, and is a site specific role with opportunities to influence corporate supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Maintain vendor and pricing lists
- Create and track PO’s for all Packaging materials
- Manage ordering for all other site materials
- Support set up, maintaining of site ERP. Utilize ERP for PO creation, materials tracking, and reporting
- Maintain Kanban system for key/critical packaging items as well as all consumable items
- Assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships and new/existing vendors relationships. Focus on strengthening strategic relationships and partnering to leverage volumes across the organization and supplier efficiencies.
- Continuously evaluate supply chain for opportunities to reduce cost
- Conduct weekly/monthly/annual on site inventory of packaging supplies. Partner with Receiving Lead/ICS to develop best practices for inventory management
- Regularly audit off site warehouse partner (local)
- Partner with Buyers from other locations to share best practices, leverage volumes, support as needed
- Support new supplier contract negotiations
- Own new product implementations/transitions – partner with Sales/Marketing, Operations, and the supplier to ensure 100% smooth transition.
- Anything else as required by the business

- Minimum 5 Years of experience in procurement/purchasing
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) is a must. NetSuite experience is a plus.
- High attention to detail essential with ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a busy environment
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Motivated to learn, grow position
