Description:

About Bentley Mission Critical

Bentley Mission Critical manufactures factory-built infrastructure for the world’s most demanding data centers. From our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Greeley, Colorado, we engineer, fabricate, and test complete modular data center systems — pre-integrating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a controlled factory environment to deliver projects 30–50% faster than traditional construction. Our customers include hyperscale, AI/GPU compute, colocation, and enterprise data center operators. We don’t build projects — we manufacture products, and we do it quality-driven, on time, every time.

We are growing fast, and our people are the reason. This role exists to make sure that as we scale, we stay a place where skilled, motivated people want to build their careers.

Position Summary

The Industrial Engineer is a hands-on member of the Production & Support Engineering team, responsible for supporting daily production and leading Lean Manufacturing implementation across our fabrication and integration operations. This position serves as the bridge between Engineering and the shop floor — interpreting drawings, resolving production issues, developing standard work, and driving the conversion of batch-and-queue operations into true one-piece flow for modular data center products, skids, and structural assemblies.

This role is responsible for improving throughput, reducing lead time and work-in-process, eliminating waste, and building a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has spent at least a decade on production lines and can demonstrate real one-piece flow projects with measurable results.

Performance Metrics

  • Production Throughput
  • Manufacturing Lead Time Reduction
  • Work-in-Process (WIP) Reduction
  • Cycle Time vs. Takt Time Adherence
  • Labor Efficiency & Productivity
  • On-Time Delivery (OTD)
  • First-Pass Yield / Rework Reduction
  • Floor Space Utilization
  • Standard Work Coverage & Compliance
  • Kaizen Events Completed & Savings Realized
  • Production Issue Response & Resolution Time

*Must be 18 years or older to apply*

Key Responsibilities

Production Support

  • Provide daily engineering support to fabrication and integration lines, resolving technical, process, and drawing-related issues to keep production on schedule.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, fabrication and assembly drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and BOMs; clarify requirements for supervisors and operators.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies and manufacturability issues and escalate them to Development and Customer Engineering for resolution.
  • Support new product introduction by validating process flow, tooling, fixtures, and routings before release to the floor.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project Management to support change orders, material availability, and schedule commitments.

Lean Manufacturing Implementation

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives including value stream mapping, 5S, kaizen events, kanban, SMED, poka-yoke, and visual management.
  • Identify and eliminate the eight wastes throughout fabrication, integration, and material handling.
  • Perform time studies, line balancing, takt time, and capacity analyses to establish realistic production plans.
  • Design plant, cell, and workstation layouts that reduce travel, handling, and inventory.
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses and present improvement proposals and results to Engineering leadership.

One-Piece Flow

  • Design, implement, and sustain one-piece flow cells, converting batch-and-queue processes into continuous flow.
  • Define takt-driven cell designs, operator loading, standard WIP, and pull systems linking upstream fabrication to downstream integration.
  • Right-size equipment, fixtures, and workstations to support single-piece movement and quick changeovers.
  • Measure and report before-and-after results (lead time, WIP, floor space, quality, productivity) and lock in gains through standard work and audits.
  • Scale successful one-piece flow models to additional product lines.

Standard Work & Documentation

  • Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, routings, and visual job aids.
  • Establish and track production KPIs and maintain visual management boards at the point of use.
  • Support ERP routing, labor standards, and job costing accuracy.

Training & Continuous Improvement Culture

  • Coach and train supervisors, leads, and operators on Lean principles and structured problem solving.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D, A3) for quality, safety, and delivery issues.
  • Promote safe work practices and integrate safety and ergonomics into every process improvement.

Physical Demands

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment: Work is performed in both an office setting and on the manufacturing floor. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and wear required PPE (safety glasses, safety-toe footwear, hearing protection) in production areas. Occasional travel to suppliers, customer sites, or other facilities may be required.

Benefits

Offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package:

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Life and disability Insurance

Benefits may vary based on employment classification and hours worked.

Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in production line / manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing one-piece flow, with specific projects and measurable results the candidate can present during the interview.
  • Proven track record leading Lean Manufacturing implementations (VSM, kaizen, 5S, kanban, SMED, standard work).
  • Strong ability to review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and BOMs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (advanced Excel) and working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.

Preferred

  • Experience in data center or mission-critical infrastructure manufacturing (modular data centers, electrical/mechanical skids, air handling units, structural steel).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with structural steel and sheet metal fabrication, welding, cutting, and nesting operations.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is a plus.
