Type: Full-Time/FTE 1.0 (40 hrs/wk)

What You’ll Do

As a Manager of Radiation Oncology, you’ll report to the Director of Oncology Services. The Radiation Oncology Manager oversees clinical and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient department operations. This role is responsible for supervising daily operations, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, coordinating with healthcare providers, and contributing to departmental growth and improvement.

Manager of Radiation Oncology Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Radiation Oncology operations, including scheduling, workload distribution, staff performance, and patient care rounds.
  • Partner with the Director on departmental goals, policy development, budgeting, resource management, and financial performance.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and manage staff, including orientation and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (JCAHO, State Board of Health, NRC) and maintain accurate documentation and billing.
  • Monitor treatment procedures, quality assurance activities, chart audits, and adherence to radiation therapy prescriptions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and hospital departments to address complex cases and operational challenges.
  • Maintain departmental supplies, equipment, and resources to support safe, effective patient care.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by driving results, fostering collaboration, building trust, delivering patient-centered care, and communicating effectively.

What You Bring

As a Manager of Radiation Oncology, you’ll bring a high level of knowledge, leadership experience, competency in performing radiology oncology care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques, and your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and others. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner. You have an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited radiation therapy program or a bachelor’s degree in an oncology-related field.
  • ARRT certification in radiation therapy technology preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in radiation therapy or oncology.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance in radiation oncology.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to assist with patient care, monitor treatments, and maintain a safe work environment.
