Production Line Mechanic
Sunland Logistics is a multifaceted company. The Variety Pack Department has the ever-growing task of packing and shipping. Our facility currently has two machines that are the primary function of this position. The goal of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, reconcile, and (when needed) contact/coordinate with vendors for all issues that arise from the machines.
Production Line Mechanic Job Responsibilities:
- Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
- Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
- Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
- Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
- Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information to management and vendors.
- Provide training to line workers on equipment and processes within assigned areas as required;
- Prepare written maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintain preventative maintenance documentation and scheduling.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Aide in ancillary projects designated by the Maintenance Supervisor.
A standard work week is 40-hours, but overtime can often be required due to unexpected maintenance issues. Weekends and Holidays are possible depending on necessity. Hours can be scheduled and augmented with the Maintenance Supervisor. 48-hour notice is preferred, but not always possible so concessions are available. The main work will be in the warehouse with the Variety Pack Department; however, this position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Production Line Mechanic Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to operate machinery and technical equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of system maintenance.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment. 50 lbs. minimum
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.
- Skilled in analyzing information and creating reports.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate degree in mechanical engineering or similar field or related certifications
- Education requirements preferred but not required with relevant work experience.
- 5 years’ experience working as a maintenance technician.
