Why Were Hiring
We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Intern to join our content team. This role blends editorial content creation with social media strategy, giving you hands-on experience across both domains. You will collaborate closely with the editorial and social media teams to produce engaging and shareable content that aligns with our brand voice and appeals to our audience.
What You'll Do
  • Assist in drafting and scheduling daily social media posts across platforms, ensuring content aligns with Complex’s unique tone and voice.
  • Support the team in sourcing, curating, and sharing trending news and culturally relevant moments across the verticals we cover.
  • Monitor and engage with the Complex audience through comments, direct messages, and replies, helping maintain an active and positive community
  • Research emerging social media trends, viral moments, and platform updates to share with the broader team.
  • Assist in brainstorming ideas for platform-specific content, memes, and real-time posts.
  • Help track social media performance and analytics, reporting key takeaways and insights to the team.
  • Collaborate with editorial and video teams to support the promotion of articles, videos, and other content.
  • Assist in covering major cultural events, such as sneaker drops, album releases, or trending sports moments, through live posts or content support.
Who You Are
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook) and a strong understanding of what performs well on each platform.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a passion for engaging audiences in a conversational tone.
  • Ability to identify trending stories, viral moments, and emerging content opportunities.
  • Creative mindset with a good sense of humor and an eye for visually appealing content.
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics is a plus.
  • Prior experience with social media management tools or content creation is a bonus but not required.
  • Must be enrolled in a university or academic program that allows you to receive credit for this internship.
