Dexa Scan Technologist at Carolina Health Specialists – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Dexa Scan Tech needed for our busy multi-speciality medical practice in Myrtle Beach. Experience required. Hours are Monday - Thursday 745-515 and Fridays 8-12. No nights or weekends! Excellent pay and benefits!

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for measuring bone mass to determine bone health for the purpose of diagnosing osteoporosis and other bone diseases, and performs imaging examinations using established procedures with a level of knowledge acquired through appropriate training.

EDUCATION: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years as a Radiology Technologist

REQUIREMENTS: Must have a current ARRT license (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), CPR certification, and South Carolina licensure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
2. Must have a general understanding and working knowledge of radiation producing equipment.
3. Maintain equipment and inventory and place medical supply orders as needed.

KNOWLEDGE:

1. Must possess analytical abilities and basic computer skills.
2. Knowledge of basic radiology technician principles and protocols.
3. Knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age.
4. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
5. Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
6. Good communication skills, capable of functioning alone in diagnostic rooms, ability to adapt to various situations and procedures.

SKILLS:

1. The candidate must have the skills to produce high quality bone density images in a timely manner while providing excellent patient care.
2. Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
3. Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
4. Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.

1. Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.
2. Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others.
3. Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands and work under stressful situations.
4. Must be able to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, families, physicians, and nursing personnel.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to lift 100 pounds. Occasional stress from workload.
