Job Description

The Swedish Institute, College of Health Sciences seeks candidates for a full-time Program Director position in Surgical Technology. Successful candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field, a surgical technology certification, and preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience.

The position is located at our New York City campus and will report directly to the Chief Academic Officer and indirectly to the Chief Executive Officer & President.

General Description

The Program Director will manage adjunct faculty within the Surgical Technology Department. Responsibilities include course review, scheduling, faculty management, and other management activities. The Program director is also required to participate in department activities, including committee meetings, curriculum discussion, student solutions management, and other service activities.


The Program Director is responsible for providing academic leadership and operational expertise in all aspects of academic quality, educational integrity, student outcomes, consistency regarding academic policies, instructional quality, curriculum development, and driving operational discipline related to academics.

  • must possess credentials in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or has a current CST Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
  • must have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
  • must possess an Bachelor's Degree or greater in the healthcare field (concentration in surgical technology)
  • must possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning (educator).
