Position Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Coordinator to lead engaging recreational and social programs within our senior living community. This role is vital in enhancing residents' quality of life through thoughtfully planned activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care settings, with a strong background in dementia and Alzheimer's care. A passion for working with seniors and individuals with disabilities is essential to foster a supportive and vibrant community atmosphere.

***With no less than 2 years’ experience, and capable of driving the bus. A plus is someone familiar with Illustratus, or Sagley. ***


Duties
Develop, coordinate, and implement a diverse calendar of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programs
Plan special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that promote socialization and cognitive engagement
Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to assess residents’ abilities and preferences for personalized activity planning
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to ensure safety and participation
Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent engagement while accommodating individual health issues or mobility limitations
Provide counseling on aging issues and support residents’ emotional well-being through meaningful interactions
Maintain detailed records of resident participation, progress, and feedback to continually improve program offerings
Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and health regulations within the facility

Requirements
Proven experience in event planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments or another related field
Strong background in senior care, memory care, Alzheimer’s care, or dementia care preferred
Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments
Excellent communication skills for engaging residents, families, staff, and community partners effectively
Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs or health issues
Experience assisting residents with ADLs and providing compassionate caregiving support
Familiarity with understanding the signs of aging as well as the counseling of redirection of unwanted behaviors is beneficial to the entire community
Demonstrate an ability to foster a positive environment that promotes socialization, mental stimulation, and emotional support for seniors
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of elderly individuals through creative programming
