Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

(Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)

Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides high-quality, patient-centered urgent care services to patients of all ages. The APP evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute illnesses and minor injuries in a fast-paced urgent care setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, procedural skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive and focused histories and physical examinations.

  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and minor injuries.

  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., labs, X-rays, EKGs).

  • Perform procedures such as suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, foreign body removal, and other minor procedures.

  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations.

  • Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

  • Determine appropriate disposition (discharge, referral, emergency department transfer).

  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and healthcare team members.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) - Experity.

  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings as required.

QualificationsEducation & Certification
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (FNP/ENP preferred) or Physician Assistant program.

  • Current, unrestricted state license.

  • DEA registration.

  • Board certification (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or equivalent).

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • ACLS and PALS preferred (or required based on patient population)

  • DOT Certification

Experience
  • Minimum 1–2 years of urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care experience preferred.

  • Experience with pediatric and adult populations preferred.

  • Proficiency in common urgent care procedures.
