Job Description

Job Summary:

Hoefer Welker is looking for a BIM Manager. The BIM Manager oversees the development, coordination, and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes across projects, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and consistency of digital models and deliverables from project initiation through construction and closeout. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Project Architects, and multidisciplinary teams to establish BIM standards, maintain execution plans, and support project teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting. The BIM Manager also leads coordination efforts with consultants, enforces firmwide standards, and drives efficiency through the use of advanced tools and workflows, while mentoring staff and contributing to the firm’s overall design technology initiatives.


Essential Functions:

  • Manage the digital model environment, including data and deliverables, for entire projects
  • Maintain a strong understanding of interdisciplinary coordination and construction document production
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Architects, and Design Teams to develop and maintain the BIM Execution Plan (BEP/BIMxP)
  • Lead project initiation procedures, including setup of discipline models and digital deliverables as outlined in the project scope
  • Execute digital deliverables and support production teams throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Provide Tier 1 technical support to project teams
  • Monitor and maintain model quality, including model health and coordination processes from planning through construction documentation and administration
  • Perform responsibilities with minimal oversight from the Design Technology Manager while providing guidance to project team members
  • Ensure project teams have appropriate software, versions, access, and training to meet project requirements
  • Establish and maintain model setup, including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match lines, views, and sheets
  • Develop project-specific content as needed to support design teams
  • Enforce company BIM standards and monitor the health of both internal and consultant models
  • Lead BIM kickoff and coordination meetings, supporting quality control through design reviews and 3D coordination processes
  • Coordinate and manage digital deliverables and data exchanges at established project milestones
  • Oversee project archiving at key submittals and project closeout
  • Collaborate with the firmwide Design Technology team on strategic initiatives and assist in training staff on new tools, workflows, and processes

Job Requiremetns

Education and Experience:

Candidates should have a technical degree in Drafting, CAD, or Design Technology (Bachelor’s in Architecture or Engineering preferred) and at least 8+ years of experience managing BIM models.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building system.
  • Strong understanding of industry BIM standards and best practices.
  • Expert level skills in Revit, Autodesk Construction Clound (ACC), and BIM 360
  • Expert level Revit model management skills.
  • Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications (CTC Tools, UNIFI, AVAIL, Keynote Manager, Enscape, Lumion, and Clarity)
  • Advanced content creation and management concepts.
  • Strong client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential. Able to mentor project staff.
  • Strong time management skills. Able to balance multiple large projects and support teams in multiple offices simultaneously.
  • Preferred experience managing models for large and mega projects ($1B+ Construction) with several consultants and trade partners.
  • Preferred experience in integrating fabricable building systems into the design process (Dfma)
  • Preferred experience in developing and using automation software products and procedures for design (Dynamo, Rhino, Grashopper, and Python)
  • Preferred experience with Healthcare projects
  • Preferred experience with real-time rendering and VR

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use insured personal vehicle in the courses of employment.
