Description:

The Architectural Design Reviewer is responsible for evaluating architectural plans, specifications, and design documents to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, safety standards, and organizational guidelines. This role plays a critical part in maintaining design quality, regulatory compliance, and project feasibility across development and construction projects.



Requirements: Key Responsibilities
  • Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and design submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations
  • Ensure designs align with local zoning ordinances, building codes, safety requirements, and accessibility standards (ADA, IBC, etc.)
  • Identify design issues, inconsistencies, or potential risks and provide clear, actionable feedback to architects, engineers, and project teams
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to resolve design-related concerns
  • Interpret technical specifications, construction documents, and engineering reports
  • Track and document review progress, approvals, revisions, and compliance status
  • Support permitting and approval processes by coordinating with regulatory agencies as needed
  • Stay up to date with changes in laws, codes, and industry best practices
  • Recommend design improvements for efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in architectural design, plan review, or construction documentation
  • Strong understanding of building codes, zoning laws, and permitting processes
  • Proficiency in reading architectural drawings and specifications
  • Experience with CAD, Revit, or other design software preferred
  • Knowledge of sustainable design standards (LEED, green building practices) is a plus
  • Professional licensure (Registered Architect or similar) preferred but not always required

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • PMP Certified
  • Experience with projects in City of Dallas and/or Dallas County.
