As a Shipping & Donations Supervisor your job is very important to the success of our organization! In today’s environment many people shop from home and look forward to their purchases being delivered. You get to ensure that the customer is receiving what they purchase and it arrives in the condition that they expect. When the community wants to donate clothing and other household items, we need to be sure that the items are brought into the building and processed properly.
This is a “hands on” supervisory position, so you can expect to participate and supervise in all aspects of the job. This position requires attention to detail, and the ability to properly package items using the appropriate materials and techniques. This person also needs to be able to weigh, measure and complete paperwork along with using computerized shipping software. The ability to lift, push and pull heavy objects is also required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with training new shippers and donation attendants.
- Monitors day-to-day shipping activities to ensure items are packaged to avoid damage.
- Ensures efficient and on-time shipments to customers.
- Determines which items are too large or unsafe to ship and cancels shipment of these items.
- Tracks missing packages and contact FedEx as appropriate.
- Files claims with FedEx as need and follow up with shippers.
- Processes returns and issue refunds accordingly.
- Orders and maintains adequate shipping and janitorial supplies.
- Maintains clean and organized shipping area, donation area, backroom, breakroom and restrooms.
- Ensures adequate staffing of the donation center.
- Monitors incoming donations and provide ongoing training to donation attendants regarding items to be listed
- Monitors all incoming and outgoing gaylords to ensure proper markings
- Ensures donation attendants are working safely and efficiently.
- Provides training to listers to ensure selection of correct box size for shipment.
- Documents and reports incidents for possible disciplinary action to the E-Commerce Manager.
- Works with the E-Commerce Manager to ensure department goals are met.
- Helps to plan monthly department meetings with E-Commerce manager and attends monthly department meetings and runs meetings in the absence of the manager.
- Supports and executes all Goodwill policies and procedures.
- Follows all safety rules and practices.
20. Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the E-Commerce Manager, in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures staff coverage of donation center including covering shifts due to staff vacations, absenteeism etc.
- Photographs and writes item descriptions when time permits.
- Accurately lists items into Shopgoodwill.com when time permits.
- Polishes and restores items that require attention.

An assigned rotation allows you to plan around your work schedule.
JOB PERFORMANCE
Reviewed upon initial hire at 30, 60 and 90 days, and annually thereafter by the E-Commerce Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
E-Commerce Technicians, E-Commerce Item Handlers.
EDUCATION
Computer proficiency.
EXPERIENCE
Previous supervisory experience required.
Previous computer usage required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete necessary paperwork.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
- Subject to background check
- Ability to work within the team concept.
- Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the Drug Free Workplace Program.
- If driving on Goodwill business, must provide proof of valid driver’s license and insurance for personal vehicle at approved levels (100/300,000 bodily injury; 50,000 property damage.
- Must have suitable driving record and be determined insurable by Goodwill Industries’ insurance carrier.
- Must have telephone, or ability to be reached immediately in case of an emergency.
- Must be well-groomed and personable.
- Must be bondable.
- Must have dependable transportation.
- Fully comply with Goodwill policy regarding values and ethical behavior with special emphasis on the Code of Ethics.

- Gloves for sorting donations.

Time spent traveling on agency business is nominal.

Heavy work: Pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently to move objects.
The ability to fully perform lifting and moving duties is mandatory.
Environmental Conditions:
The worker is subject to indoor environmental conditions.
