G & W Products is a leader in contract metal manufacturing and fabrication. Founded in 1968, our areas of expertise include metal stamping, laser cutting, fabrication, manual and robotic welding, tool and die work, powder coating and assembly. Our modern facilities include 190,000 square feet of manufacturing space between three facilities located in Fairfield, OH. We specialize in numerous industries including construction, transportation, energy, and defense. We are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Buyer to join our team in Fairfield, OH.

Position OverviewThis position is responsible for acquiring products and services for G&W Products, focusing on securing optimal pricing and maintaining high quality standards. This position involves managing the creation and tracking of purchase orders, developing strong supplier relationships, and negotiating favorable terms with vendors to support organizational goals.

Key ResponsibilitiesGenerate purchase orders and ensure the timely delivery of required goods and services.Maintain thorough and accurate records of all procurement activities, including inventory levels and transaction histories.Review MRP demand signals, production needs, and inventory levels to maintain uninterrupted material flowIdentify and source potential new suppliers while consistently evaluating the performance of existing suppliers.Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to maximize value for the organization.Coordinate with various departments to ensure procurement initiatives are aligned with wider organizational objectives.Manage and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, promptly addressing any issues that arise.Procure raw materials such as sheet steel, aluminum, copper, fabricated components, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies.Assess supplier quotations and services to determine the best total cost of ownership (TCO).Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accurately understand demand forecasts and requirements.Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and product availability to inform procurement decisions.Lead cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and supplier reliability.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or relevant combination of education and experience3+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Plex, Epicor, SAP, etc.)Exceptional communication skills and keen attention to detailStrong analytical skills and proven negotiation abilitiesAbility to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet tight deadlinesAdditional QualificationsComprehensive knowledge of metal grades, processing techniques, and supply chain management principlesDemonstrated expertise in negotiation and contract administrationExperience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100Preferred Education and CertificationsCPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), or ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management) certification.
