Do you want to own every message thousands of students and families get from Contour, not just push sends down someone else's conveyor belt?

At Contour, we've proven product-market fit and grown from a scrappy startup to a high-growth scale-up. Thousands of students, parents, and tutors now live inside our ecosystem every day, across three brands and a growing number of states. The one thing that has not kept pace is how we talk to them.

So far, our communications have run through a conveyor belt of six or more people, with a week's notice needed for a single send. The result is what most of the tutoring category settles for: generic, commercially driven, and out of touch with where a student actually is in their year. We are done with that. We are building a real lifecycle function, and we want one person to own it.

We're looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Specialist, the owner of every external touchpoint a student or family receives: email, SMS, and in-app. Reporting to our CMO and building on a fresh HubSpot instance, you'll own campaigns and automated journeys across VCE, HSC, and QCE, and internationally with MedPrep across the UK and New Zealand. You'll work hand in glove with Academics, Sales, and Student Success so that every message is personal, academically informed, and genuinely useful.

This isn't a send-button role. It's a build-the-channel role. You'll be given the autonomy, the AI tooling, and the partnership across the organisation to set the bar for what great student communication looks like, and then go hit it. The standard is simple: every send is measured first on whether it serves the student or the family, with retention, revenue, and brand salience treated as the outcomes that follow.

What You Will Do

You will own Contour's entire external communications channel and build the lifecycle function from the ground up.

  • Own the Channel End to End: Take on Contour's full email and SMS program, campaigns, triggered automations, and lifecycle nurture sequences across every market, and replace a six-person, week-per-send process with a single owner who can build and ship in minutes.
  • Build and Run HubSpot: Own the HubSpot marketing instance once migration lands. Build, test, and maintain automated journeys across lead nurture, enrolment conversion, onboarding, re-engagement, and retention, and keep the contact lifecycle, segmentation, and list hygiene clean from first enquiry to enrolled student and beyond.
  • Push Toward a Segment of One: Partner with Academic, Sales, and Product Marketing so every communication reflects a student's subjects, campus, stage of study, and point in the enrolment journey. Generic is the enemy.
  • Write Copy That Earns Attention: Write your own on-brand email and SMS copy that speaks to students and parents differently and meets each at the right moment, from first awareness through to re-enrolment.
  • Reflect the Student Experience Back: Work with the Experience team to weave NPS, post-event feedback, testimonials, and reviews into a retention and community program that goes beyond re-enrolment nudges and genuinely reflects the experience back to the people living it.
  • Hold the Whole Lifecycle: Run SMS alongside email, keep cadence tight so families are never over-communicated to or left without follow-up, and maintain a living map of the full communications journey, spotting gaps and unmessaged moments before anyone else does.
  • Test, Measure, and Improve: A/B test subject lines, send times, formats, and CTAs. Track open rate, click-to-open, conversion, and revenue influenced, manage deliverability and sender reputation, stay compliant with the Spam Act 2003 and Privacy Act 1988, and bring the CMO a clear read with recommendations after every major send.


What You Will Bring
  • A HubSpot Operator: You have deep, hands-on experience in HubSpot Marketing Hub, workflows, sequences, lists, forms, landing pages, and reporting, with 2+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or email marketing where you owned the build and the send.
  • An Owner, Not an Executor: You treat this channel as yours. You spot the gaps, you don't wait to be directed, and you make the program better without being asked.
  • A Lifecycle Thinker: You map communications to the student decision journey, from first awareness through enrolment, onboarding, and re-enrolment, and you always know where a message belongs.
  • A Real Writer: You write your own copy, clearly and persuasively, and you shift your voice between students and parents, and between nurture and conversion, without ever losing the brand.
  • Data-Fluent and Experiment-Led: You read email analytics with ease, build segments that matter, form a hypothesis, design a clean test, read the result, and apply the learning rather than repeating what worked last time.
  • Fast, and Detail-Tight: You hold a complex calendar of sends and automations without dropping the ball, and you move quickly when priorities shift.
  • AI-Literate, With Judgment: You use AI to accelerate copy, segmentation, and workflow thinking, and you have the taste to tell the difference between output that's right and output that's slop.
  • Education-Literate: You understand how VCE, HSC, and QCE work, the rhythm of the academic year, and the real concerns of families navigating Year 11 and 12.

    Bonus Points: HubSpot certification, the ability to build beautiful HTML emails from scratch, experience designing referral mechanics, and a background in a multi-campus or multi-market organisation, or in ed-tech.
