Recovery Mentor - ODHS Systems Specialist
Pay: $22.50 per hour.
Schedule: Full-time. Monday - Friday, 10am until 6pm.
Location: 314 SW 9th Avenue, Portland, Oregon

As Recovery Mentor, you'll be a consistent and intentional guide for youth navigating difficult paths. What You'll Do:
- Support Growth and Learning: Provide individualized skill-building and coaching to youth to strengthen essential life and workforce skills, facilitate career-focused groups and workshops, organize college and jobsite tours, all in the spirit of expanding one’s knowledge and potential career opportunities.
- Be a Mentor and Guide: Build genuine connections with youth, share relevant and intentional experiences to instill confidence and build trust.
- Empower Through Advocacy: Help young people navigate complex systems, access resources, collaborate and coordinate with other providers, and make informed decisions about their own career journey.
- Document the Journey: Maintain accurate and timely records, ensuring that our programs have the data they need to thrive and continue serving those who need it most.
Qualifications:
- Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) credential or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and active automobile insurance.
- Must meet and maintain DHS Driver Standards requirements.
- Experience working with adolescents and young adults preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based prevention and early intervention practices.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, positive youth development, treatment engagement strategies, and culturally responsive service delivery.
- Knowledge of ODHS Child Welfare systems and community resources preferred.
- Strong communication, advocacy, relationship-building, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse youth, families, staff, and community partners
This position requires a high level of mobility, meaning the successful candidate must be able to swiftly move and adapt to different situations and tasks. This may or may not also include different agency locations or locations within the community being served. A person in this position must be able to perform with or without accommodation the essential functions of this job including any physical requirements associated with this role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be routinely exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. If the position may require the use of any personal protective equipment, New Avenues will have such equipment on hand for the employee’s use.
