Pump Division- Assembly Technician II in Chatsworth, California at Hydraulics International

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pump Assembler Technician II to join our manufacturing team. This experienced technician will independently assemble, test, troubleshoot, and complete complex pump systems while supporting production priorities. The role will also assist in training and mentoring less-experienced technicians to promote quality, efficiency, and consistent work practices.

Required Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of mechanical assembly/manufacturing experience, preferably with pumps, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, or industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to independently read and interpret:
  • Engineering drawings
  • BOMs
  • Assembly drawings
  • Schematics
  • Work instructions
  • JO/SO documentation
• Proficient with precision measuring equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly practices.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform torque, alignment, fitting, tubing, and component installation correctly.
• Ability to perform and document functional, pressure, leak, and/or performance testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues.
• Ability to identify root causes of assembly problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Strong computer and production-documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Typical Level II Duties

• Independently assemble complete pump systems.
• Perform complex mechanical and hydraulic assemblies.
• Set up and perform testing of completed units.
• Troubleshoot failures and determine corrective actions.
• Verify critical dimensions, torque requirements, alignment, and component installation.
• Review drawings and identify potential assembly issues.
• Identify shortages or engineering discrepancies that could affect production.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Machine Shop, Quality, Material Control, and Production when problems occur.
• Make approved adjustments to bring units into specification.
• Complete JO/traveler, inspection, and test documentation.
• Assist with determining assembly completion dates.
• Train and assist Technician I employees.
• Help establish/improve assembly procedures and work instructions.
• Support production priorities and urgent/line-stop orders.
• Perform final assembly verification before moving units to testing or shipping.
