Job Description

Description:

· Execute monthly Joint Interest Billing (JIB) close process

· Bill out OEE (Operating Expense and Equipment) insurance costs

· Overhead accounting for drilling, completion, and major construction projects

· Create and upload journal entries including payroll, correcting, and reclassification entries

· Enter and apply cash receipts

· Perform monthly account reconciliations

· Update allocation groups and cost centers

· Handle the AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) reclass process

· Process and document material transfers across field and vendor locations

· Assist with joint interest partner audits and respond to audit inquiries

· Prepare and post quarterly Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) entries

· Perform physical inventory counts at field and vendor sites

· Support interim and year-end financial audit processes with documentation and reconciliations

· Collaborate with Operations, Land, and Financial Reporting departments to resolve discrepancies

· Identify and recommend process improvements in accounting workflows

· Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies

· Maintain accurate and complete documentation to support journal entries and account balances

· Lead special projects as required.

Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict monthly close deadlines

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications (Word, Outlook)

· Familiarity with oil & gas accounting systems

· Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially for working with internal teams and joint interest partners

· Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision

· Team-oriented and collaborative, with the ability to work across disciplines such as Operations and Land

Education And Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience

· Minimum of 6 years of experience in oil and gas accounting

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills

· Self-starting, detailed, results-oriented team player

· Strong organizational skills with significant attention to detail and accuracy

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; W Energy is a plus

· Ability to prioritize assignments, manage interruptions, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

Benefits and Anticipated Compensation

This role is eligible for both short- and long-term incentive opportunities. AEC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, and wellness support.

The starting rate for this position is expected to be between $100,000 to $110,000, based on experience, qualifications, and internal pay alignment. Final compensation may vary from this range depending on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s education, skills, prior experience, and evolving market conditions. This range represents Anschutz Exploration's good-faith estimate of the pay for this role at the time of posting.
