Job Description
Additionally, in the early juncture of the program, the OCC will assist with Patient Navigation for Oncology Services. This may include assistance with coordinating patient clinical, financial, and transportation services as well as questions and communications pertaining to aspects of treatment, evaluation, support services and education to patients. The OCC works with at-risk hospital patients and assists them in accessing the hospital’s cancer care delivery system and resources. This will include direct interaction with patients and their families in person, by telephone and/or e-mail. As the program grows the OCC will assess the timing and staffing needs to expand roles within the operation to meet the patient needs. The OCC performs functions as noted above and is fully ready and willing to assist the team in direct nursing services, and other duties as assigned which will cross over into the practice, the infusion center or any needed area of the operation.
Education:
- Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Masters in Nursing preferred (MSN).
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years specific Oncology Practice and Infusion Center experience required.
- Minimum of one (1) year previous Oncology specific nursing leadership experience required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- South Carolina (or compact state) licensure as RN (SCLLR) in good standing required.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) required.
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certified by Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) required.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Valid US Driver’s License required.
Other:
- Completion of Duke Health Affiliate training in Oncology, Chemo 101, and other additional competencies required after hire date. (May be required to travel for education).
- Prior experience on the Cerner EMR platform preferred.
