This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. System Technologist based in Canada.
This role sits at the intersection of advanced systems engineering, mission-critical communications, and high-impact field support. You will work on complex public safety and government communication infrastructures, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability across large-scale systems. The position involves hands-on troubleshooting, system optimization, and end-to-end technical ownership in high-pressure environments. You will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and client stakeholders to deploy and maintain next-generation communication networks. This is a highly technical, field-oriented role requiring both deep networking expertise and strong customer-facing skills. You will play a key part in supporting critical systems that directly impact public safety and emergency response services across Canada.
- Provide advanced technical support for mission-critical communication systems, including troubleshooting, optimization, and performance tuning across RF, broadband, and IP-based infrastructures.
- Install, configure, program, test, and document complex communication systems, ensuring high reliability and compliance with technical standards.
- Support LAN/WAN environments, including routers, switches, firewalls, cabling, and network infrastructure across distributed systems.
- Diagnose and resolve server, OS, and application-level issues across Windows and Linux environments, including virtualization platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and client teams to design, deploy, and transition communication systems into production.
- Produce technical documentation, weekly status reports, and operational updates for stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve complex system issues under pressure while ensuring minimal service disruption in critical environments.
- 3+ years of experience in telecommunications, networking, RF systems, IT infrastructure, or mission-critical communication environments.
- Strong expertise in IP networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3, MPLS) and hands-on experience with LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Solid knowledge of server environments including Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
- Experience with communication systems, RF technologies, broadband/LTE, or public safety networks is highly desirable.
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot network and server infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate in high-pressure, field-based environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in IT, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for government security clearance required.
- Willingness to travel extensively (50%+).
