What is Interface?

The William James INTERFACE Referral Service, is a mental health and wellness referral Helpline available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9 am-5 pm and Tuesday and Thursday 8 AM-6 PM EST. This is a free, confidential referral service for members of subscribing communities. Callers from these subscribing communities are matched with licensed mental health providers from our extensive database, on average, within 1-2 weeks of their call to INTERFACE. Each referral best meets the location, insurance, and specialty needs of the caller.

Position Summary

Provide resource and referral guidance and therapeutic matching to callers of the INTERFACE helpline as well as serve as an ambassador for the service to all callers and stakeholders. This is a full-time (35 hours/week) position. This position is fully remote with occasional requirements to come to the College in Newton, MA.

Essential Functions

  • Complete intakes during dedicated daily line coverage hours
  • Provide basic counseling and psycho-education to callers who are seeking coordinated therapeutic matches for mental health and wellness services, following the well-established protocols of the service
  • Provide follow-up services and case management to assigned cases
  • Research and identify resources for the INTERFACE website and database including working with IT and other staff
  • Recruit clinicians for inclusion in the database while conducting provider searches, assist the recruitment team in updating or adding profiles in coordination with recruitment team;
  • Attend trainings and staff meetings for best practice resource and referral
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours, including in the communities we serve at community related marketing events.

Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the responsibilities and objectives of the position and the mission of the College

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in psychology, mental health counseling or social work, license eligible or licensed in Commonwealth of MA preferred
  • Ability to speak with callers and communicate in writing in a language other than English, and Spanish is strongly preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in clinical services is highly preferred
  • Access to reliable, secure high-speed internet and a private setting to maintain confidentiality
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication, fluent in second language preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Experience with phone triage in a clinical setting preferred

Compensation Range: $50,000-55,000 annually

This range represents the College’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this role. Placement within the range will depend on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Typically, candidates are hired within the lower to mid-point of the range, with the upper end reserved for individuals who bring significant, directly relevant experience and fully meet or exceed the role’s requirements.
