Job Description
Description:
We are seeking a results-driven Plant Buyer to manage the procurement of materials and services supporting plant operations and production. This role will be responsible for supplier management, sourcing, negotiations, inventory monitoring, cost savings, and ensuring timely procurement.
Requirements:Location: Richmond, VA
Experience: 3+ years
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Source and purchase materials, services, and supplies for plant operations.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely availability of materials.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive purchasing improvements.
- Analyze pricing, costs, inventory, and purchasing data to support decisions.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and other departments.
- Manage multiple priorities and resolve supplier or procurement issues.
- Follow purchasing, safety, compliance, and company policies.
- Continuously improve procurement processes and efficiency.
- 3+ years of purchasing/sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with MRP systems; SAP or Acumatica experience is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to perform cost analysis, pricing comparisons, and inventory calculations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for supplier visits and business travel.
This role involves a combination of office and manufacturing-floor work, with occasional exposure to construction environments, dust, and noise. Travel may be required.
