Job Description

VP, M&A Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP, M&A Operations based in United States.

This executive-level role will lead the operational strategy and execution of complex mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and carve-outs across a global deal pipeline.
You will serve as the key bridge between Corporate Development and functional leadership, translating deal strategy into executable operational plans.
The position has broad visibility across the organization, with direct engagement with C-suite executives and senior functional leaders.
You will shape due diligence, integration planning, governance, synergy realization, and post-close stabilization for strategic transactions.
The role requires balancing financial objectives, operational risks, technology considerations, organizational needs, and customer continuity.
You will also build scalable M&A frameworks and continuously improve integration capabilities based on lessons learned from completed transactions.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced M&A leader who thrives in complex, fast-moving, and highly cross-functional environments.

Accountabilities
  • Lead end-to-end operational due diligence for acquisition targets, assessing business models, technology infrastructure, organizational structures, operational capabilities, and key risks.
  • Partner with functional leaders to develop integration cost models, synergy benchmarks, operational assessments, and risk mitigation strategies throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Own and continuously enhance the global M&A Playbook, establishing scalable frameworks, governance models, tools, processes, and methodologies for integrations and carve-outs.
  • Serve as Integration Management Office (IMO) lead for active transactions, coordinating cross-functional teams from pre-signing through closing and post-close stabilization.
  • Establish KPIs, value-tracking mechanisms, and dashboards to monitor integration progress and ensure the realization of deal thesis objectives and revenue or cost synergies.
  • Design and manage executive governance structures, including steering committees and IMO workstreams, while providing regular reporting on milestones, risks, budgets, and value creation.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to C-suite sponsors and functional vice presidents, facilitating alignment, resolving complex issues, and driving decisions across organizational boundaries.
  • Lead change management efforts focused on cultural alignment, employee retention, operational continuity, and customer experience following transactions.
  • Oversee post-merger stabilization activities and ensure emerging operational issues are identified and addressed effectively.
  • Conduct post-transaction reviews to capture lessons learned, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen future M&A execution capabilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • 10–12+ years of total professional experience, including at least 7 years focused on M&A operations, post-merger integration, corporate development, or closely related disciplines.
  • Deep experience leading complex, cross-functional integrations, separations, or carve-outs within technology, SaaS, healthcare, energy, or other comparable growth-oriented or enterprise environments.
  • Strong background establishing and operating PMO or IMO governance structures and managing complex programs involving multiple functional teams.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including the ability to model operational synergies, evaluate integration costs, manage deal budgets, and track value realization.
  • Experience with operational due diligence, integration planning, change management, executive governance, and post-close stabilization.
  • Background in top-tier management consulting, particularly M&A or corporate strategy, or significant experience leading integration activities within a growth-stage or large enterprise organization is preferred.
  • Exceptional executive presence with outstanding communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build consensus among senior leaders and navigate competing priorities without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Highly adaptable, commercially minded, and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous, fast-paced deal environments.
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to translate high-level transaction objectives into detailed, measurable execution plans.
Benefits
  • Competitive executive compensation package.
  • Annual performance bonus opportunity.
  • Equity incentive plan.
  • High-visibility role directly contributing to transformative growth and strategic transactions.
  • Direct exposure to C-suite executives and senior decision-makers.
  • Opportunity to lead global M&A integration and carve-out initiatives across multiple functions.
  • Ability to build and shape scalable M&A operating frameworks and best practices.
  • Remote position within the United States.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the growth of an organization operating at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and the global clean energy transition.
