Physical Therapy Technician in Fairfield, Iowa at Jefferson County Health Center

POSITION OVERVIEW (non-exempt):

Prepares patients for treatment and maintains orderliness and cleanliness of department/treatment area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Computer skills.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred, but not necessary.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports to Therapy Services Manager

DIRECT REPORTS:

None

POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Assists PT or PTA in preparing treatment area and preparing patient for treatment
• Informs PT or PTA of any patient report of condition changes
• Assists PT or PTA in patient care as directed
• Maintains orderliness and cleanliness in department and PT treatment areas
• Assists with patient scheduling, data entry, patient statistical reports, surveys, daily logs, insurance information collection, faxing information as requested by therapists, collecting & distributing mail and supply ordering
• Checks discharged patient charts for completeness and then forwards to Health Information
• Attends and completes all health center and department in-services as requested by Manager
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, families, and coworkers
• Performs other related duties as requested or required. Regular and punctual attendance

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Works in a well-illuminated, climate-controlled environment
• May come in contact with hazardous chemical or treatment modalities
• Possibility exists of exposure to communicable diseases
• Involvement in inpatient care may result in unavoidable work-related illness or injury
• Work environment is comfortable, with minimal exposure to physical hazards
• Moderate to loud noise environment when machines/equipment in use
• Involvement in checking in/moving of supplies may result in unavoidable work-related injury
• Must be constantly alert for patient/family emergency situations
