Job Summary:

This position is responsible for performing specialized screening or diagnostic examinations of the breast to assist physicians and other licensed medical providers in the diagnosis of disease in Oyate Health Center (OHC) patients.

Essential Functions and Professional Behavior Expectations:

• Explains process to patient and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination, maintaining sensitivity in patient contact.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, precision, quality, and performance of all screening and diagnostic mammograms done in the Radiology department.
  • Responsible for all the technical requirements and quality assurance as required by the FDA, ACR, and other mammography accrediting agencies.
  • Perform diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered.
  • Prepares for and assists in the completion of intricate mammography examinations.
  • Produce high quality images for the radiologist to evaluate.
  • Assists radiologist or physician in reading or evaluating results.
  • Responsible for follow-up of patients and outcome analysis in conjunction with the radiologist and/or other departments as required by the FDA and/or its certified agents.
  • Develops breast-imaging protocols in conjunction with the radiologist.
  • Complete appropriate documentation.
  • Perform quality control functions related to mammography.
  • Assist in compilation and maintenance of statistical data.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies.
  • Maintain effective, collaborative interdepartmental and external relations.
  • Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Performs radiologic related duties.
  • Performs the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the position’s schedule and operational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.

Physical Requirements

.Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Program of Radiologic Technology and one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist.
• Must have certification from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
• Current BLS certification for health care providers.
• Must successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
• Preferred experience on multiple modalities of diagnostic imaging.
• Must successfully pass a criminal and background check, and a pre-employment drug screen.
