Game Day Support Staff in Seattle, Washington at Lakeside School

About the Role:

Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for a Game Day Support Staff, which will include game announcers, scoreboard/shot clock operators, and ticket takers. The expected seasonal coverage is for our winter season (November - March) this year. Specific expectations are listed below for each role:

Responsibilities

Game Announcer, Scoreboard/Shot Clock Operator

Boys and Girls Basketball

6 pm - 9 pm, but may vary by game schedule

Game Announcer Responsibilities

This person, reporting to the Upper School Athletics Event/Equipment/Facilities Manager, will be responsible for announcing at home athletic events and help to create an exciting game-day experience. Duties include:

• Announcing home games for basketball, football, and volleyball

  • Introduce all players, teams, coaches, and officials

  • Provide score, fouls, substitutions, timeouts, and other important game information

  • Provide other important information needed during games

• Create a positive and energetic atmosphere for participants and spectators

• Arrive on time and prepared for each scheduled game

Scoreboard/Shot Clock

This person, reporting to the Upper School Athletics Event/Equipment/Facilities Manager, will be responsible for announcing at home athletic events and help to create an exciting game-day experience. Duties include:

• Operate and reset the shot clock during basketball games

• Follow instructions from game officials

• Maintain accuracy and focus throughout the entirety of the game

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least 19 years of age.

• Comfortable speaking in front of a crowd and interpersonally with officials and coaches.

• Great communication skills.

• Familiarity with basic sport-specific rules and terminology.

• Reliable and punctual.

• Previous announcing or sports experience is helpful, but not required.

• Satisfactorily complete at least two criminal background checks.

Compensation and Benefits
Stipend range: $40-50/hour, depending on experience
We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development.
