GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Program Assistant - Migration and Refugee Services supports the Migration & Refugee Services department in engaging refugee and immigrant clients, identifying community needs, and developing and supporting wellness programming. This position conducts outreach to client and potential client populations, assists with the planning and facilitation of wellness groups, and provides administrative and programmatic support across the department.
The ideal candidate is culturally responsive, organized, community-oriented, and comfortable building relationships with individuals and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Programs Assistant will work collaboratively with program staff, clients, community partners, and volunteers to promote meaningful participation and access to supportive services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Conduct outreach to current and potential client populations to build understanding of community needs, interests, barriers, and areas of support.
- Gather and document information from outreach activities to identify emerging needs, interests, and opportunities for programming.
- Use information gathered through community outreach to assist in developing wellness group topics, materials, structures, activities, and resources that are relevant and responsive to client needs.
- Assist with the planning, preparation, and implementation of wellness groups.
- Support existing wellness groups as a secondary facilitator, including:
- Coordinating or assisting with participant transportation.
- Conducting direct outreach and reminders to clients.
- Completing administrative and logistical tasks.
- Preparing materials and activities.
- Providing occasional direct leadership during group sessions.
- Track participation and gather participant feedback to support ongoing program improvement
- Assist programs throughout the Migration & Refugee Services department with client outreach and engagement. Encourage participation in agency programs, groups, workshops, and community activities.
- Provide administrative support to the Migration & Refugee Services department as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the goals and operations of the Migration & Refugee Services department.
- Support program events, workshops, community activities, and other departmental initiatives.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This work is performed in an office setting with moderate noise due to computers, printers, and clients coming and going.

Requirements:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Undergraduate degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience, preferably with immigrant populations
SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language
- Must possess reliable personal vehicle and be willing to use personal vehicle if an agency vehicle is not available.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities and exercise sound judgment to address complex or sensitive situations.
- Be able to interact successfully with colleagues, clients, volunteers, and service providers alike.
- Be able to set boundaries while being both professional and compassionate.
- Must be people oriented and relate well to varied ethnic populations.
