When you join EduCare, you are not simply accepting a job—you are becoming part of a mission-driven community committed to shaping brighter futures.

Position Summary

Frontline Staff help bring EduCare Foundation’s mission to life by creating engaging, safe, and supportive after-school experiences where students can explore their interests, develop new skills, build confidence, and form meaningful relationships.

Working closely with the Site Coordinator, Frontline Staff serve as tutors, instructors, coaches, and mentors. Depending on the assigned program, employees may lead academic support, arts, enrichment, leadership, technology, sports, fitness, recreation, or other student-centered activities.

Frontline Staff develop and facilitate engaging programs, actively supervise students, maintain accurate attendance records, recruit students to participate, support events and field trips, and help create an inclusive environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, teamwork, and social-emotional development.

Why Join EduCare?

As a Frontline Staff member, you will have the opportunity to make a difference through the relationships you build and the experiences you create for students each day.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Help young people discover their interests, strengths, and potential.
  • Design and lead engaging academic, enrichment, sports, or recreation activities.
  • Serve as a mentor, instructor, tutor, or coach.
  • Build supportive relationships with students and school communities.
  • Help students strengthen confidence, leadership, teamwork, and social-emotional skills.
  • Gain hands-on experience in education, youth development, coaching, and expanded learning.
  • Develop your skills through training, feedback, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Work alongside colleagues who believe in leading with empathy, integrity, and heart.

If you are energetic, dependable, creative, and excited to help young people learn and thrive, we would love to learn more about you.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will combine program facilitation, student mentorship, active supervision, attendance compliance, and teamwork. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Program Development and Facilitation

  • Develop and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate academic, enrichment, sports, fitness, physical-recreation, or other assigned activities.
  • Prepare and maintain written activity or lesson plans for assigned programs.
  • Establish clear program goals, instructions, routines, and behavioral expectations.
  • Provide students with meaningful opportunities to learn, participate, create, collaborate, and develop new skills.
  • Modify activities based on students’ ages, abilities, needs, interests, participation, and feedback.
  • Incorporate feedback and direction from the Site Coordinator and After-School Program leadership.
  • Prepare, organize, distribute, and maintain required program materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Use program resources, technology, and equipment responsibly.
  • Help maintain an organized and welcoming program space.

Student Engagement and Mentorship

  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students and serve as a mentor and role model.
  • Actively interact with students throughout each assigned program rather than supervising from the sidelines.
  • Encourage students to explore new interests, step outside their comfort zones, and build confidence.
  • Promote creativity, self-expression, teamwork, leadership, positive relationships, and social-emotional development.
  • Recognize student effort, growth, participation, and accomplishments.
  • Create an inclusive environment where students feel seen, heard, valued, and supported.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries in all interactions with students.
  • Respond appropriately to student questions and concerns and seek assistance when an issue requires additional support.

Active Supervision and Student Safety

  • Maintain active supervision of students during assigned programs, transitions, events, and field trips.
  • Maintain awareness of student locations, activities, behavior, and safety.
  • Establish and consistently reinforce appropriate behavioral and safety expectations.
  • Follow required student-to-staff ratios, release procedures, and site-safety practices.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to student behavior, conflicts, injuries, incidents, or unexpected situations.
  • Promptly notify the Site Coordinator of behavioral, medical, safety, attendance, or program concerns.
  • Follow all EduCare, school-site, district, and program emergency, safety, and security procedures.
  • Promptly report suspected abuse or neglect, threats of harm, hazards, policy violations, or unsafe conditions through established procedures.

Attendance and Compliance

  • Collect and document student attendance in accordance with EduCare Foundation’s procedures.
  • Ensure students follow all required sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Explain the importance of accurate sign-in and sign-out records to participating students.
  • Actively monitor students during sign-in and sign-out to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Review attendance records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Submit completed and signed attendance records to the After-School Program office by the established deadline.
  • Submit daily attendance through the Beyond the Bell application when assigned to a Los Angeles Unified School District site.
  • Promptly report missing records, attendance discrepancies, or unauthorized departures to the Site Coordinator.
  • Follow EduCare procedures for collecting, reviewing, and maintaining after-school registration forms.
  • Protect confidential student, family, school, and program information.

Student Recruitment, Events, and Field Trips

  • Build enthusiasm for after-school programming and actively recruit students to participate.
  • Promote assigned programs, events, field trips, and special activities.
  • Support the school site in meeting enrollment, participation, and attendance goals.
  • Help students understand available program opportunities and encourage consistent participation.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of school-site events, showcases, competitions, and field trips.
  • Assist with setup, supervision, student check-in and release, materials, activities, and cleanup.
  • Follow all event and field-trip documentation, supervision, transportation, and safety requirements.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, parents and guardians, school administrators, school-site employees, district representatives, program observers, community partners, and EduCare employees.
  • Work collaboratively with the Site Coordinator and fellow Frontline Staff to support successful daily operations.
  • Share relevant information about student participation, progress, needs, behavior, or safety with the Site Coordinator.
  • Receive and apply coaching, feedback, and program direction.
  • Contribute to a positive, dependable, and supportive team environment.
  • Represent EduCare Foundation professionally within the school community.

Training and Program Quality

  • Attend required professional-development sessions, site-staff meetings, coaching, and EduCare organizational meetings.
  • Participate in required training related to program facilitation, student engagement, attendance, safety, behavior support, and compliance.
  • Use feedback and professional development to strengthen program quality and student experiences.
  • Maintain knowledge and skills relevant to assigned programs.
