About the Role:

The Truss Designer plays a crucial role in the construction industry by creating detailed designs for trusses that are essential for the structural integrity of buildings. This position requires a deep understanding of geometry and building codes to ensure that all designs meet safety and regulatory standards. The designer will collaborate with architects and engineers to develop innovative solutions that optimize material usage while maintaining strength and durability. Additionally, the Truss Designer will be responsible for preparing construction drawings and specifications that guide the manufacturing process. Ultimately, the success of this role directly impacts the efficiency and safety of construction projects, making it a vital position within the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in truss design and familiarity with construction drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mitek software and other design software tools

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed truss designs using design software, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, customers & sales to develop design solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Manage modifications to designs as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Utilize Mitek software to analyze and optimize truss designs for performance and cost-effectiveness.

Skills:

The required skills, such as geometry and knowledge of building codes, are essential for creating accurate and safe truss designs. Proficiency in design software allows the Truss Designer to visualize and modify designs efficiently, ensuring that all specifications are met. Short correspondence and memos are used daily to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, facilitating collaboration. Understanding construction drawings is critical for translating design concepts into actionable plans for manufacturing. Additionally, familiarity with change orders helps the designer adapt to project changes swiftly, maintaining project timelines and budgets. Pay range dependent on experience.
