Position Overview
The North America Director of Operations is a senior executive leadership role responsible for directing the full operational functions of Ferrari Express Inc.'s North American operations across the United States and Canada. This includes strategic oversight of the Security, Sales and Customer Service, Customs Brokerage, and Domestics departments. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Managing Director, this position is charged with strategic decision-making to grow and optimize the North American business, achieve organizational excellence, and maintain secure compliance with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local regulations across all operating jurisdictions.
The North America Director of Operations provides strategic advice to the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Managing Director, oversees cross-departmental performance, and serves as the primary operational authority and public representative for the North American region.
Core Operational Responsibilities
The following responsibilities represent the primary functional duties of the role, organized by strategic focus area:
Strategic Planning & Performance
- Develop and execute business strategies to achieve Board and Shareholder goals for the North American region.
- Provide strategic advice to the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Managing Director, analyzing company data, budgets, and market opportunities.
- Prepare comprehensive business plans focusing on cost-effective operations and market development across North American locations.
- Establish and implement short- and long-term goals across all North American operational segments, including storage, shipping, security, fleet, and customs brokerage across US branches (New York, New Jersey, Texas, and Florida) and Canadian locations.
- Review financial statements, sales reports, and performance data to measure productivity, reduce costs, and identify areas for improvement.
Operational Management & Efficiency
- Plan, direct, and monitor day-to-day business activities across all North American locations to ensure progress and operational excellence.
- Oversee operational performance, investments, and business ventures by analyzing relevant metrics and KPIs.
- Evaluate cost-effective methods for transporting high-value goods to maximize profitability.
- Develop and implement organizational structures, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor billing accuracy and exercise cost control measures; report on regional performance to the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Managing Director and headquarters.
Security & Risk Management
- Enforce company security policies and procedures, with a specific focus on data privacy and cyber-security as it relates to sensitive client information, including customs documentation and shipment tracking systems.
- Analyze problematic operational occurrences and provide timely corrective solutions.
- Oversee environmental management and sustainability programs in accordance with applicable provincial standards.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all Canadian departmental policies and operations adhere to applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations.
- Create or revise departmental procedures to reflect current legal requirements, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) requirements, applicable state and provincial occupational health and safety legislation, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations where applicable.
- Partner with HR to ensure compliance with applicable US and Canadian employment standards legislation, pay equity obligations, accommodation requirements, and human rights obligations.
- Ensure all employees and contractors comply with the Company's anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and corporate ethics policies.
Stakeholder Relations & Business Development
- Maintain trusted relationships with shareholders, business partners, clients, and Canadian government authorities.
- Serve as the primary public representative of Ferrari Express Inc. for North American operations, strengthening the Company's profile with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Advise the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Managing Director and executive leadership on operational concerns and client engagement feedback.
- Identify new business opportunities within the North American market and develop growth strategies in coordination with executive leadership.
- Support the planning and execution of sales promotions, client development activities, and service expansion initiatives.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Recruit, promote, coach, and develop branch-level leaders and operational staff in accordance with applicable US and Canadian employment standards.
- Foster a high-performance culture through accountability, professional development, and structured performance management.
- Act as escalation point for key client concerns and high-value service issues across North American branches.
Supervisory Scope
The North America Director of Operations oversees all North American branch operations and department leadership, which may include but is not limited to:
- US and Canadian Branch Managers and Operations Supervisors
- Security Operations (US and Canada)
- Sales and Customer Service (US and Canada)
- Customs Brokerage and Imports (US and Canada)
- Fleet Management (US and Canada)
- Domestics and Regional Operations (US and Canada)
- Logistics Coordination (US and Canada)
Contractual Obligations & Professional Standards
In addition to operational responsibilities, the incumbent is bound by the following professional standards as outlined in the employment agreement:
- Duty of Loyalty: Must use best endeavors to promote and protect the interests of the Company and its related corporations at all times.
- Exclusivity: Must devote exclusive professional attention to the business of the Company during assigned daily working hours.
- Conflict of Interest: Required to avoid any direct or indirect professional engagement, business activity, or office that conflicts with duties to the Company, except with prior written consent from the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Managing Director.
- Compliance: Mandatory adherence to all Company policies, specifically including anti-bribery and anti-corruption procedures, as well as rules set by relevant Canadian regulatory bodies.
- Professional Conduct: Required to perform all assigned duties faithfully and diligently, in good faith, and in a manner consistent with Company values and applicable law.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management within secure logistics, armored transportation, luxury goods logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years in a senior or director-level leadership role, preferably with multi-site, multi-state, or multi-national scope.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing business strategy and preparing operational business plans.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing compliance with applicable federal, state, and provincial employment and regulatory requirements.
- Strong financial acumen; experience analyzing financial statements, performance data, and operational budgets.
- Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and public relations skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with logistics or ERP platforms an asset.
- Knowledge of CBSA, TDG regulations, and provincial occupational health and safety legislation preferred.
- Experience in high-value cargo, security logistics, or luxury goods transportation strongly preferred.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset, particularly for roles with Canadian scope and Quebec operations.
