This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of the electric grid by leading advanced power system studies focused on transmission planning and interconnection within the Western Interconnection (WECC) region. You will manage a team of electrical engineers responsible for complex analyses including steady-state, dynamic, short circuit, and EMT studies using industry-leading simulation tools. The position combines technical depth with strategic leadership, requiring close collaboration with clients to ensure high-quality, timely, and impactful deliverables. You will also play a key role in improving internal methodologies, enhancing engineering processes, and driving operational excellence across projects. In addition, this role contributes to business growth by supporting proposal development and defining study scopes. It is ideal for a seasoned power systems expert passionate about renewable integration and modern grid transformation.
- Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers delivering advanced power system studies, ensuring technical quality, budget adherence, and on-time execution.
- Oversee complex transmission and interconnection studies including steady-state, dynamics, short circuit, and EMT analyses using tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, TARA, ASPEN, CAPE, and related platforms.
- Engage directly with clients to define study scope, gather requirements, and address technical concerns throughout project execution.
- Develop, review, and continuously improve transmission study methodologies, workflows, and engineering processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Mentor, train, and develop engineers, strengthening technical capabilities across the team and broader organization.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to RFP responses, proposals, and technical scope definitions.
- Drive process optimization initiatives aimed at improving productivity, scalability, and delivery excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a focus on Power Systems (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in the electric power industry, particularly in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or system design.
- Strong expertise in WECC (Western Interconnection) systems, including generation and load interconnection and grid planning studies.
- Hands-on experience with inverter-based resources (IBR) modeling and advanced grid analysis techniques.
- Proficiency with power system simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, TARA, ASPEN, CAPE, or similar platforms.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with clients and internal teams.
