Director of Talent

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Talent based in the United States.

The Director of Talent will lead a strategic talent function focused on building scalable sourcing, recruiting, and contractor placement operations.
This role will drive workforce strategies that support business growth while ensuring strong talent pipelines, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will combine staffing expertise, leadership capability, and business acumen to guide a high-performing team.
Working closely with executive stakeholders, this leader will influence talent planning, technology adoption, compliance practices, and process improvements.
The position requires a forward-thinking approach to workforce management, analytics, and continuous optimization.
As a senior leader, you will help shape talent strategies while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence in a remote-first environment.

Accountabilities:

The Director of Talent will oversee the full talent lifecycle, including sourcing, evaluation, contracting, placement, compliance, and workforce planning. This role requires strong leadership skills, operational ownership, and the ability to develop strategies that support company objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Talent team by establishing goals, providing coaching, and building leadership capabilities across the department.
  • Define and execute talent acquisition strategies that increase contractor supply, improve quality, and support business growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop workforce plans, talent strategies, and contractor capacity initiatives.
  • Oversee sourcing pipelines, recruiting operations, candidate evaluation processes, and placement activities across multiple business areas.
  • Ensure recruiting, interviewing, contracting, and contractor management processes comply with applicable employment and independent contractor regulations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on contractor relations, compliance risks, legal escalations, and staffing best practices.
  • Manage department technology platforms, reporting tools, and analytics capabilities to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Establish performance metrics, reporting frameworks, and operational improvements to enhance talent outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and other teams to strengthen employer branding and attract high-quality independent professionals.
  • Manage department budgets, investment decisions, and long-term operating plans aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and technology adoption to support scalable growth.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience leading talent acquisition, staffing, or workforce operations, with strong strategic thinking and people leadership capabilities.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience within the staffing industry, talent acquisition, recruiting operations, or a large-scale placement organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience managing recruiting teams, contractor relationships, and high-volume talent operations.
  • Strong understanding of employment regulations, independent contractor compliance, and workforce risk management.
  • Experience developing scalable recruiting strategies, improving processes, and driving measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence executive leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through growth, change, and operational transformation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience using metrics to guide decisions.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining collaboration and accountability.
  • Preferred: SHRM certification, staffing industry certification, or comparable professional credentials.
