About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality nursing care within various healthcare settings. This position focuses on providing direct patient care, managing wound care, administering medications, and performing venipuncture under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse. The LPN is responsible for educating patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and pain management strategies to promote recovery and well-being. Effective communication in English is essential to accurately document patient information, collaborate with healthcare teams, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to improving patient outcomes by delivering compassionate, skilled nursing care and supporting the overall healthcare team in a dynamic environment across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid and current Nursing License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Massachusetts.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure clear communication and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in patient care within a healthcare or assisted living facility setting.
  • Competency in performing venipuncture and wound care procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of pain management principles and patient education techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working under the supervision of a DON within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Additional certifications in wound care or pain management.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. (PCC)
  • Previous experience in a long-term care environment.
  • Continuing education or training related to patient education and chronic disease management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Perform wound care management, including dressing changes and monitoring for signs of infection.
  • Conduct venipuncture procedures for laboratory testing and intravenous therapy as required.
  • Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and pain management techniques.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and communicate effectively with Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment in compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Support the healthcare team in developing and implementing individualized care plans.

Skills:

The Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes wound care skills daily to assess and treat patients' injuries, ensuring proper healing and preventing complications. Patient education skills are essential for explaining treatment plans and health maintenance strategies clearly and compassionately. Proficiency in English is critical for accurate documentation, effective communication with patients and healthcare team members, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Nursing license credentials validate the nurse's ability to perform clinical tasks such as venipuncture and pain management safely and competently. Preferred skills, such as experience with Nurse Practitioners and electronic health records, enhance collaboration and efficiency in delivering comprehensive patient care.
