About the Role

We’re looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you'll prepare patients for their eye exams, perform diagnostic testing, and help create a welcoming and personalized experience throughout every visit.

While this position is ideally full-time, we're also open to hearing from experienced candidates seeking part-time opportunities. If you enjoy combining hands-on clinical work with meaningful patient interactions, we'd love to meet you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and help create a warm, professional, and positive experience throughout their visit.
  • Obtain and accurately document patient medical history, medications, allergies, and reason for visit.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic tests, including visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, OCT, visual fields, and other clinical testing as directed.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for examinations and assist in maintaining efficient patient flow.
  • Accurately document testing results and patient information within the electronic medical record.
  • Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment while following infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Support the clinical team with daily operations and contribute to a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or another medical office (preferred).
  • Experience performing diagnostic or clinical testing in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.
  • CPO, COA, CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Strong patient service and interpersonal skills with a warm, professional demeanor.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence in learning new software and diagnostic technology.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-first mindset.
  • A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously develop new skills.
  • The ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy in all aspects of patient care.
