Overview

Electric Boat Information Technology (EB IT) is responsible for Electric Boat's enterprise and special use information systems, such as product design environments, collaboration platforms, and office productivity suites. EB IT supports over 25,000 end-users in a wide variety of work environments, networks and locations. Electric Boat Information Technology is pursuing an Infrastructure Solution Architect to support a multi-year strategy to modernize the company's IT infrastructure offerings within a robust cybersecurity environment.

The IT Solution Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and guiding technical solutions that enable the business to operate efficiently and securely. This role partners closely with IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable architecture. The architect ensures solutions align with enterprise standards, reduce technical debt, and move the organization toward a modern, wellstructured technology ecosystem.

The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Architecture & Design
    • Develop endtoend solution architectures for new applications, integrations, and technical initiatives.
    • Produce system diagrams, conceptual designs, and technical specifications.
    • Evaluate whether requirements should be solved via configuration, integration, customization, or outofthebox capabilities.
    • Ensure all designs follow enterprise architecture principles, security requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Integration & Systems Alignment
    • Architect integrations between enterprise systems such as ERP, identity platforms, HR systems, monitoring tools, workflow engines, mobile devices, etc.
    • Ensure integrations follow secure patterns with modern standards, and are resilient, monitored, and welldocumented.
  • Governance & Standards
    • Contribute to architecture governance, standards, naming conventions, and reusable design patterns.
    • Guide teams on maintaining development discipline and minimizing unnecessary customization.
    • Ensure alignment with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Project & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work with IT Project Management Office, business owners, engineering teams, and cross-functional groups to shape technical direction.
    • Provide architectural input during planning, estimation, road mapping, and prioritization activities.
    • Communicate technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.


Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Solution architecture design (conceptual, logical, physical)
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and architecture deliverables.
  • API and integration design (REST, SOAP, messaging, eventdriven patterns)
  • Cloud architecture concepts (Azure, AWS, hybrid models)
  • Identity & access management (SSO, MFA, RBAC, zerotrust concepts)
  • Data modeling, data flows, and information governance
  • Understanding of networking, segmentation, and security boundaries
  • Ability to collaborate Crossfunctionally with PMO, IT, and business stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical environments and propose structured, scalable solutions.
  • Knowledge of security principles, identity management, modern integration standards, and leastprivilege access models.


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems engineering, or enterprise application design

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Background in technical governance, standards creation, or architectural review boards.
  • Experience reducing technical debt and leading modernization initiatives.
