The Opportunity
We are seeking skilled Construction Specialist who are local to the Reno, NV and the surrounding areas. This position reports to the Construction Manager and offers an opportunity to join a strong, collaborative team at an early stage of growth, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the continued expansion of GRC.
Responsibilities
- Construction specialist is responsible for general laborer duties and support on construction sites
- Use various equipment, hand, and power tools
- Prepare ground trenches for pipes and utility lines
- Remove, fill, or compact earth
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade and utility safety standards.
- Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
- Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on the truck
- Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
- Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
- May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
- Ability to follow instructions
Required Qualifications
- On-call and weekend availabilityConstruction Specialist
- Routinely lift and carry items up to 50 lbs independently, team lifts up to 75 lbs
- Safely navigate active construction sites with uneven terrain and open trenches
- Work outdoors in weather conditions ranging from 32°F to 100°F+
- Stand 8 to 12 hours on asphalt or sit extended periods operating pilot vehicles
- Climb ladders/stairs, perform repetitive shoveling/digging, and maintain high situational awareness
Driving & Travel Requirements
- This position requires a valid driver's license to operate company vehicles, transport equipment, and manage daily travel between client locations and field operational sites throughout the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction: 1 year (Preferred)
- CDL A (Preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Understanding of basic utility construction processes and terminology a plus
Additional Information
Salary Range: $20 - $25 Hourly, based on experience
Schedule: Day Shift: Monday - Friday & Night Shift: Sunday - Thursday
Travel Requirements: 100%
Role Openings: 8
Target Start Date: 2-3 weeks from offer
Non-Exempt Status: This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
