We are a team; our members and guests are what make Shalom Austin feel like a home away from home. The successful candidate for this position will be comfortable (and excited!) about database work, excel in both behind the scenes operations and customer service, love being a key team member assisting multiple people, and will be happy to support several program areas run well.

You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the Games Director in all planning, administrative, and operational aspects of the JCC Maccabi Games.

  • Work closely with Israeli Shliach and support all efforts to bring “Israel” to the JCC Maccabi program.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for visiting delegations, facilitating clear communication and coordination between delegations and Games committees.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with delegation heads to support a smooth and organized Games experience.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, steering committee meetings, and additional planning sessions as needed.
  • Develop and distribute monthly Games newsletters and other communications for delegations, volunteers, and the local community.
  • Assist in promoting the Games through marketing, outreach, and community engagement efforts.
  • Partner with Local Delegation Heads and staff to coordinate all aspects of the local delegation experience, including administrative, social, and athletic components.
  • Support community outreach initiatives to recruit athletes, volunteers, host families, and spectators from across the Jewish community.
  • Represent the Games at community events, presentations, and special engagements.
  • Work closely with JCC Association national staff and assist with registration system administration.
  • Assist in supervising part-time staff, interns, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Provide additional operational and administrative support as needed to ensure the success of the Games.

Week of the Games Responsibilities

  • Maintain constant communication with the Games Director and Games Chairperson to address operational needs and respond to evolving priorities.
  • Assist with on-site event management and help ensure a smooth, organized, and positive Games experience for all participants.
Requirements:
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proactive, solution-oriented work style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong public speaking and presentation abilities
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Experience managing volunteers and working collaboratively with teams
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Jewish community organizations and culture preferred
  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission and values of the JCC Maccabi program
  • Previous Maccabi experience is preferred, but not required

Additional Information

This is an exempt position and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. During peak planning periods and the week of the Games, the role will require hours beyond a standard 40-hour work week.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, calm under pressure, highly collaborative, and committed to delivering an exceptional JCC Maccabi Games experience for athletes, families, volunteers, and the broader community.
