This educator will bring a deep understanding of mathematical thinking and a commitment to helping students develop conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence in mathematics.
At Acera, Math is not about rote procedures or memorization - it is about making sense of ideas, building connections, and developing flexible, creative thinkers. Our Math program emphasizes deep understanding, rich problem-solving, and student-centered exploration. The Fourth Grade Math teacher will play a key role in helping students transition into more abstract mathematical reasoning while maintaining curiosity, agency, and joy in learning.
Salary Range: $11,500 to $13,000 per year
Position Type: School year, part-time
Class Days and Time: Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri. 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Additional Hours: Various and negotiable, to include planning, prep, reporting, and collaboration
Start Date: August 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Design and teach engaging 4th Grade math lessons grounded in conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and real-world application
- Support students in developing a deep understanding of core topics such as operations, decimals, fractions, geometry, measurement and data, ensuring students understand the “why” behind the math
- Facilitate student-centered discussions that encourage multiple strategies, mathematical discourse, and critical thinking
- Incorporate rich investigations, tasks, and open-ended problems that promote deep thinking and engagement
- Differentiate instruction to meet a range of learners, including those who may need additional support or greater challenge
- Use formative assessment to monitor student understanding and adjust instruction responsively
- Implement and refine curriculum that aligns with Acera’s constructivist, inquiry-based approach to mathematics
- Continuously reflect on and evolve curriculum to meet the needs of students and reflect best practices in math education
- Collaborate with colleagues across grade levels to ensure coherence and alignment within the math program
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and growth
- Complete Progress Report comments twice a year
- Participate in Parent/Teacher Conferences once a year
Qualifications
- Experience teaching 4th Grade math or similar elementary Math courses
- Strong content knowledge in foundational Mathematics
- Experience working with elementary students
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Mathematics, education, or a related field preferred
- Experience with inquiry-based, constructivist, or problem-based Math instruction is highly desirable
- Ability to differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners
- A growth mindset and enthusiasm for ongoing learning and professional growth
