Job Summary:
The Patient Care Manager (PCM) is accountable and responsible for assisting with the management and guidance of the specialty and trauma departments, including, but not limited to, the staff, environment, and patients. In addition, the Patient Care Manager is held accountable for functioning within the departments budget by using cost-effective methods while maintaining safe, quality patient care. The PCM is directly accountable and responsible to the Director of the Specialty and Trauma Clinics. Employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces meaningful contributions Requires the promotion of and adherence to the organization’s established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct.

- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and to assess and intervene appropriately when patient care requires immediate intervention; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed in the specified department setting.
- Provides leadership and serves as a role model for staff.
- Performs department rounds on a continuous basis.
- Maintains staffing for all departments to ensure coverage for patient care.
- Maintains monthly meetings for all staff with the Director.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate changes in policy and procedures and other appropriate communication to staff.
- Demonstrates ability to participate in department planning, decision making and policy formation
- Demonstrates the ability to assist in the coordination of services with the medical providers, nursing staff and other departments as well as other providers involved in the patients care.
- Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment and certifications required in specific nursing area
- Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for each departments population by rendering professional nursing care
- Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Demonstrates financial viability with effective use of staff and supplies.
- Ensures infection control procedures and quality measures are followed.
- Demonstrates ability to hold staff accountable to organization’s vision.
- Follows up with staff, family, patients and physicians in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Responds rapidly and effectively during emergency situations.
- Demonstrates through, concise and timely documentation when following up on patient care, quality or staff issues.
- Assist with yearly document and contract compliance updates.
- Asssist with yearly budget planning and able to formulate proforma for new services provided within the departments and the ability to assist with the establishment of new services within the specialty clinics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
Graduate of a recognized accredited RN program is required. A bachelor degree in nursing or healthcare administration is preferred.
Work Experience:
Five years experience in nursing is required, with specialty care preferred. At least five years of prior clinical management experience with demonstrated leadership behaviors is required. Required to be able to clinically participate in all components of the nursing and management process.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS
