| Position Description | The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in modern Korean history. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will have a rigorous research agenda focusing on Korean history (post-1876), based on historical sources in Korean and other relevant languages. The tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching and advising at the undergraduate and graduate level, contributing to a diverse and broad undergraduate curriculum in humanities and East Asian studies. In Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, tenure-track positions are untenured. |

Names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor. 7. Writing sample: no longer than 10,000 words, including notes but not bibliography 8.
