Job Description
The Production Team Leader is responsible for leading production crews, ensuring quality standards, maintaining safety compliance, and meeting production schedules in a precast concrete manufacturing environment/facility. The Team Leader oversees daily production activities within the precast concrete plant, while ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to customer specifications while leading and developing production employees. The Team Leader coordinates workflow, monitors quality, enforces safety procedures, and works closely with supervisors, quality control personnel, and maintenance teams to meet production targets.
Duties and responsibilities
• Lead and supervise production team members during daily operations through training and mentoring on processes, equipment, and safety procedures, including monitoring employee performance and providing feedback.
• Assign tasks and monitor workflow to ensure production schedules are achieved.
• Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to maximize productivity.
• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure proper setup and operation of molds, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, finishing, and curing processes.
• Ensure all precast products meet company, customer, and industry quality standards.
• Conduct routine inspections of products and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and production requirements.
• Promote and enforce a safe work environment through regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure team members use required personal protective equipment (PPE) in the production process.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure equipment is operated correctly and safely.
• Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel.
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities as needed.
• Monitor material usage and minimize waste.
• Communicate daily production goals and expectations to team members.
• Provide updates on production status, quality concerns, and safety matters.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, shipping, and management teams.
• Complete shift reports and maintain production documentation.
• Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications include:
• High diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree or technical certification or related field, preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment. Prefer minimum 2 years’ experience in precast concrete manufacturing, construction materials, or related field.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of precast concrete production methods and quality standards, preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA guidelines.
• Strong leadership and team building skills.
• Self-motivated to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Excellent analytical / problem solving skills or the ability to interpret technical specifications
• Excellent communication and time management skills
Working conditions / Physical Requirements
• Industrial plant setting with exposure to concrete, dust, and machinery.
• Candidates should be able to work in various environments.
• Standing for long periods of time with frequent movement through the plant.
• Exposure to noise, chemicals, or machinery, as applicable for the work being performed.
• Use of PPE (i.e. gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and/or ear protection).
• Ability to lift heavy objects on a regular basis, if required.
• Ability to complete repetitive tasks, as appropriate.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Ability to work various work shifts and overtime, as required to meet project deadlines.
