This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Marketing Enablement based in the United States.
This is a senior leadership opportunity focused on shaping and scaling a complex customer communications ecosystem across email, SMS, print, and emerging channels.
You will own the strategy, technology roadmap, and operational model that enable effective, compliant, and consistent customer communications.
The role combines marketing operations, communications technology, vendor management, financial oversight, and organizational leadership.
You’ll partner closely with Marketing, Product, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Customer Experience, and Client Services to align communication capabilities with business priorities.
You will lead a team of six experienced professionals while overseeing an annual operating budget of approximately $15 million.
Success will be measured through improved efficiency, customer engagement, compliance, communication quality, cost management, and measurable ROI.
This role is ideal for a strategic and operational leader who can modernize complex processes, influence senior stakeholders, and build scalable capabilities for future growth.
- Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of customer communications across email, SMS, print, and emerging channels, ensuring programs support engagement, retention, service adoption, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish communication governance, standards, best practices, and operational controls that create consistent, accurate, efficient, and compliant execution across business lines and client programs.
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and operational effectiveness of the customer communications technology ecosystem, including email/SMS platforms, campaign management tools, workflow technologies, and proprietary solutions.
- Evaluate existing communication processes and execution models, identifying opportunities to improve scalability, flexibility, cost efficiency, standardization, and speed to market.
- Develop measurement frameworks and performance indicators to evaluate communication effectiveness, operational performance, customer impact, and return on investment.
- Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, communication providers, agencies, and other external partners, establishing clear performance expectations, service levels, and accountability.
- Oversee external partners supporting legally required and compliance-related communications, including direct mail programs, while identifying opportunities to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Partner with Marketing, Product, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Customer Experience, and Client Services to align communication strategies and balance enterprise standards with client-specific requirements.
- Serve as an executive-level leader for communication standardization and transformation initiatives, using data and operational insights to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six experienced marketing communications professionals, fostering innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Establish performance expectations, career development opportunities, and organizational capabilities that prepare the team for future growth and evolving communication requirements.
- Manage an annual operating budget of approximately $15 million, including planning, forecasting, expense management, vendor negotiations, and financial optimization.
- Drive measurable improvements in communication execution, operational efficiency, compliance, customer experience, vendor performance, and overall communication ROI.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in marketing operations, customer communications, CRM, lifecycle marketing, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale email, SMS, direct mail, or multi-channel customer communication programs.
- Proven experience managing marketing technology platforms, communication ecosystems, and external vendor or agency relationships.
- Experience overseeing multimillion-dollar operating budgets, including financial planning, forecasting, negotiations, and cost optimization.
- Strong understanding of communication compliance requirements, governance frameworks, operational controls, and quality standards.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and operational discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Strong change-management capabilities, with a track record of modernizing processes and implementing scalable operating models.
- Experience with platforms such as Iterable, Infobip, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign, Braze, or comparable customer communication technologies is preferred.
- Experience managing proprietary or internally developed marketing technology solutions is a plus.
- Background in telecommunications, insurance, subscription services, retail, or other customer-centric industries is advantageous.
- Experience leading communication standardization, transformation, or operational improvement initiatives across multiple business units or client programs is preferred.
- Ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on in a fast-paced, evolving environment and to balance enterprise priorities with execution requirements.
- Hybrid working environment in the United States, with the role based in Nashville, Tennessee or available remotely within the U.S.
