Our purchasing department has an opening for a temporary position estimated to last 2 to 4 months to support exciting new project initiatives.
Under general supervision of the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent solicits subcontractor’s bids; base house and options, analyzes bids and selects the top candidates; negotiates pricing; collects, reviews, and processes contractual paperwork; resolves subcontractor issues; seeks out cost savings through value engineering; and sources and pre-qualifies new subcontractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Solicits subcontractor bids (base and options), analyzes bids, selects top candidates based on construction, customer service ratings, and pricing. Negotiates the pricing to meet Company budgets. Processes all contracts once awarded via DocuSign, track progress until returned. Saves completed contracts and ensures community subcontractor list is kept updated.
- Maintain Vendor relationships, sources and pre-qualify new subcontractors including checking references. Resolves subcontractor issues, such as delay in product delivery, change in specifications, PO questions, or other modifications.
- Work with Sales and Designers to create and maintain Options. Maintain community Browse Book. Prices and processes NSO’s (Non-Standard Option) requests.
- Analyze cost increases and negotiate best pricing. Process cost changes and update Estimating Worksheets.
- Seeks out cost savings through value engineering—evaluates other products that provide the same quality at reduced prices and inputs information into spreadsheet.
- Work with Purchasing Manager to maintain and update Purchasing Procedures.

This is a Temporary Role. Salary based on experience; Range $85,000-$95,000
Requirements:Minimum Education and/or Experience:
High School (GED) plus 4 years direct experience in the Homebuilding industry (required).
High level of organization, time management, and attention to detail to successfully meet deadlines.
Software - BuildPro, Homefront, Sage preferred

Purchasing/Planning Software - BuildPro, Homefront, Sage preferred
Physical Demands: Seldom stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally reach with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds.
Frequently sit, use hands, and talk or hear, and lift up to 10 pounds.
