Role Overview
Quality Assurance Inspection (QAI) General Foreman reports directly to the Manager of Quality, D321. The Quality Inspection General Foreman is responsible to interact with cognizant Program Office, Ship’s Management, Trades, Planning, and Navy organizations to correctly and cost effectively provide the proper inspection related resources to fully support all ship and machine shop construction, maintenance, and test activities to facilitate final ship certification for underway operations. The ability to interpret specifications and procedures is a must. The candidate must understand inspector training as required by specification and/or department requirements. The QAI General Foreman will be responsible to lead and support inspection supervisors to provide resources and the required qualified inspection skill mix to all EB off-site locations (i.e., PSNSY, Pearl Harbor, NNSY, Bangor, Kings Bay, Focus Factories etc.) as well as Groton and Subbase-NL.

Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6+ years relevant experience in inspection operations, shipyard construction, and/or engineering
- 3+ years previous supervisory experience
- Possess a detailed knowledge of nondestructive test (NDT) methods and inspection processes
- Knowledge of Sample Inspection Methodologies, Re-entry Control, and Objective Quality Evidence requirements
- The individual must have a familiarity with the ship certification process, NDT, and ship construction processes such as welding, painting, SHT/MIP application, and valve restoration
- A basic knowledge of submarine operating systems (piping, weapons handling, propulsion, hull structure, etc.)
Preferred
- 5+ years of EB experience
- Familiarity with submarine certification processes and Special Emphasis Programs (SUBSAFE, Deep Submergence Systems, Fly-By-Wire, etc.) for maintenance and new construction ships
- Previous experience in the various disciplines of Inspection and performance of inspections to the applicable shipyard procedures
- Certification or knowledge in at least one NDT method
- Combination of experience in new construction and overhaul work
- A working knowledge of the shipyard re-entry process, JCALS, ERS, and other EB Business systems, etc
- Present or previous qualifications in various NDT methods (MT, PT, ET, UT and VT) and/or NACE certification is a plus.
