What the position entails:
At GeoVerra, you’ll be part of a team turning geospatial data into real-world solutions. As a Project Coordinator, you’ll help bring projects to life! From field to final deliverables using a mix of advanced technology and practical problem-solving.
The Project Coordinator plans, executes, and delivers geospatial projects including 3D scanning, UAV surveys, bathymetric mapping, mobile mapping, and ground-penetrating radar—while ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction. This role manages scope, schedules, and budgets; supports proposal development; processes survey data; and oversees QA/QC procedures to meet GeoVerra’s standards and reporting requirements.
Calgary would be an ideal base, but we’re open to the right candidate in other locations as well.
What you will do:
- Plan and execute geospatial projects, including 3D scanning, UAV surveys, bathymetric mapping, mobile mapping, and ground-penetrating radar.
- Collaborate with field, production, and project delivery teams to ensure efficient execution.
- Support proposal development, estimates, RFP/bid responses, and business development initiatives.
- Process terrestrial laser scan, mobile mapping, UAV, and other remote sensing data using company tools.
- Perform survey calculations using GNSS and conventional methods, including control network adjustments (RTK, conventional, and levelling data).
- Generate topographic surfaces and analyses from point cloud data.
- Prepare volume calculations, surface analyses, heat maps, and monitoring/inspection reports in accordance with industry standards.
- Contribute to GeoVerra’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) program, including field safety audits.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
- Develop project plans, timelines, resource allocations, and crew schedules; monitor progress and adjust to meet milestones.
- Gather project requirements, site details, and client specifications at initiation.
- Coordinate field and office activities, ensuring crews have the necessary equipment, data, and instructions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day client communication and project updates.
- Ensure deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and reporting requirements; implement and maintain QA/QC procedures.
- Track project costs, report variances, and support accurate invoicing.
- Identify and escalate risks, scope changes, and issues impacting schedule, budget, or quality.
- Provide project tracking, status, and forecasting reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or degree in Geomatics Engineering, a B.Sc. in Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in the geomatics industry, including project coordination or project management experience in geospatial projects and geospatial data processing.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Expert knowledge of 3D laser scanning and UAV surveys.
- General knowledge of surveying concepts, GNSS, UAV operations, total station and levelling techniques, drafting, spatial databases, map projections, Civil 3D design, control surveys, web applications, programming, digital mapping, cartography, terrain modelling, GIS, FME, web mapping, and technical communication.
- Working knowledge of ArcMap and ESRI tools, with the ability to handle a variety of GIS data formats, including DEM, LiDAR datasets, and imagery.
- Good knowledge of mobile mapping, bathymetric surveys, and ground-penetrating radar.
- Experience processing point cloud data from one or more remote sensing technologies, such as terrestrial laser scanning, mobile mapping, bathymetry, GPR, and UAV.
- Experience with tools such as Leica Cyclone, Leica Register360, Trimble Business Center, TopoDOT, 3DReshaper, TerraScan, and similar platforms is considered a strong asset.
- Experience operating 3D laser scanners, such as Leica, Trimble, or NavVis.
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software to prepare survey-related plans.
- Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to surveying and project delivery.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required.
