VitalCore Health Strategies, (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Healthcare, has an opening for a Full-Time Physical Therapist.

This position would primarily work at our site in Lancaster, MA but could work at any of our sites across the state of Massachusetts. Our sites are located in Gardner, Lancaster, Shirley, Framingham, Concord, Norfolk, Bridgewater, and Roslindale.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates and treats incarcerated patients who have lost function due to injury, illness, or disability as part of an interdisciplinary team. The patient population is diverse and often medically complex, which keeps every day unique with engaging challenges. Staff physical therapists within the prisons work directly 1:1 with patients and create and execute plans of care based on their expert clinical judgement. While quality documentation is expected to ensure a high standard of care, this setting is unique in that justification of services to insurance companies is not needed, allowing PTs to focus their time on giving the best care possible.

ESENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Will be required to work within a correctional facility and travel to multiple facilitiesDocuments encounters in patient's medical record as assigned. Ensures Medical Record documentation is in SOAP format, problem oriented and corresponds to the therapeutic order. Ensures all documentation is timed, legible, and signed. Ensures patient observation for therapy evaluations, formulates treatment plans, and provides treatment. Analyzes treatment plans utilizing various technique which may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, functional training, and mechanical modalities. Documents pertinent observations and logical conclusions to validate need for treatment. Utilizes available in-house resource personnel for treatment and resolution of identified problems before utilizing off-site referral. Provides treatment of disability, injury, and disease by use of different mechanisms. Demonstrates proper technique of patient management according to established policy and licensure requirements. Supports standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures. Serves as a resource to other professional or non-professional personnel providing instructions as needed. Attends medical staff meetings as required. Provides monthly in-service education of staff as requested. Participates in monthly review of quality care and chart reviews as requested. Notifies Site Medical Director and/or Site Health Services Administrator of schedule changes. Assists in arrangement for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Other duties as requested by the Site Medical Director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Must possess a current, unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist in the practicing state and maintain knowledge of licensure laws/regulations.

    Must be fluent in English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding. Must be a supportive team member, who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept. Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
