Infection Preventionist
Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303

$37.29 - $55.94 an hour - Full-Time Days, 30 hours per week

Boulder Community Health is seeking an Infection Preventionist who is responsible for implementing and evaluating the Infection Prevention Program under the supervision and guidance of the Infection Prevention Manager.

Qualifications
•Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Masters in Public Health (MPH)
•Colorado Registered Nurse license with BSN, or Masters in Public Health (MPH)
•Training in infection prevention and control functions to include:
- Epidemiological principles
- Sterilization/Disinfection Practices
•Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred and required after two years of working in the field.
•Member of the local APIC organization preferred
•Three to five years of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities
•Maintains the Infection Prevention program at BCH.
•Understands Joint Commission, CDC, IHI, and state and federal regulations and understands the application of them into all programs, policies, and procedures related to Infection Prevention.
•Investigates and documents healthcare-associated infections and outbreaks of disease within the hospital and associated clinics as targeted by the annual Infection Prevention plan.
•Investigates and reports communicable disease issues to appropriate agencies, staff and groups, including the reporting of state reportable conditions per regulation.
•Assists with the development and revision of Infection Prevention policies and procedures.
•Participates in the development and presentation of infection prevention educational programs as identified by assessments of staff knowledge, infection prevention rounds, or as requested by individual departments.
•Collects, trends, and analyzes infection prevention data with appropriate reporting methods.
•Participates in ICU rounds as the Infection Prevention representative and resource.
•Acts as an Infection Prevention “resource” for employees as well as patients.
•Directs employees and managers to the proper steps to take when an infectious disease exposure occurs.
•Maintains confidentiality for all matters relating to patient and employee health information.
•Understands and participates in the NHSN reporting system while meeting their criteria for identifying healthcare-associated infections.
•Participates in hospital-wide committees and task forces.
•Participates in the ongoing review, evaluation and possible incorporation of new products from an infection prevention perspective.
•Round at the ambulatory clinics, who perform high level disinfection, once throughout the year to validate the relevant Tracer (e.g. Trophon, Pre-Cleaning Instruments).
•Provide consultation to the ambulatory clinics on high risk for patient harm processes.
