EMDR/Family Counselor in Rock Creek, Ohio at Ashtabula County Medical Center

The EMDR Therapist is responsible for providing evidence-based trauma treatment to patients in a residential substance use treatment setting. This role requires collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure trauma-focused interventions are delivered safely, ethically, and in accordance with each client's stage ofrecovery and clinical readiness.

• Provide EMDR therapy utilizing current EMDR protocols and best practices.
• Monitor client stability throughout treatment and adjust interventions as clinically indicated.
• Incorporate grounding, stabilization, and emotional regulation techniques before, during, and after EMDR sessions.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of dissociation, relapse risk, emotional dysregulation, or psychiatric instability.
• Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries and uphold ethical standards of practice.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active clinical licensure (LPC, LPCC, LCSW, LISW, or equivalent as required by state law).
• Completion of EMDR Basic Training through an EMDR-approved training provider.
• EMDR Certification preferred but not required.
• Experience treating trauma and co-occurring substance use disorders.
• Experience in residential or behavioral health treatment settings preferred.
