Job description: Senior Communications Specialist
Constellation is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist who will assist in developing, updating, and publishing program/organizational materials, designing and distributing them for internal and external audiences. The Specialist will assist in maintaining the program and organizational websites so they remain compelling and current, developing communication plans and managing internal program/organizational communications, supporting media relation efforts including development and distribution of story ideas, press releases and media interviews.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the annual Strategic Communications plan to include tracking activities.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on leading strategic communications efforts for the client, identifying stakeholders, avenues, and methods for communications, and analyzing communications gaps, along with benchmarking of other federal agency portfolios.
  • Create in partnership with subject matter experts to include senior leadership, regular and recurring messaging and materials for employees and external partners to include public facing materials.
  • Develop reference materials, guidance, and a repository of information regarding strategic communications.
  • Facilitate discussions with clients to accomplish strategic communications plan and goals.
  • Maintain content and materials on the intranet site promoting organizational successes, opportunities, and new/updated guidance for the appropriate audience; to include routine review of content.
  • Create and publish the quarterly newsletter for posting on the SharePoint page.
  • Support strategic communications initiatives as required.
  • Draft talking points, leadership remarks and comments for various engagements, meetings, and events.
  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining content on the public facing cbp.gov site.
The ideal candidate must have the following experience, background, and credentials:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS CBP Tier 5 Background Investigation (BI)
  • Bachelor’s degree in mass-communication, business, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting the messaging of complex business functions or programs and providing challenging and professional deliverables, products, and services on multiple social media, and communications platforms.
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • High proficiency in MS SharePoint and other Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
